Put in at the Grandview Trailhead, down to Horseshoe Mesa with 1st night at Hance Creek, down Tonto trail to Hance Rapids for 2nd night, 3rd night back at Hance Creek and out the 4th day on Grandview Trail. Made the trip with 5 other gals (6th stayed at home - scared of heights - good call!). We got the meaning of "sweaty fear" on the double difficult portion of the trail down from Horseshoe Mes a, saw many rattlers, one even coiled, scorpions but not many ravens. The river was magnificent and an enjoyable cool down in the 93 degree weather at the bottom. Only saw a few folks on the trail until we headed out on the weekend to a throng of tourists, even a bus full of Japanese visitors taking a group picture at the over view site. We looked the sweaty, crying part of gals who had just finished an epic trip, with no REI guides to carry our gear and water, like the group of aging men we passed on the trail out. :> More
